WRX sti Spoiler
surely just turn over the spoiler you have a look at the underside and you will see how many fixings it has.
from memory when i removed mine for a boot respray its only held on with normal nuts you could buy from anywhere nothing special.

What you really need is a proper STI boot lid!
There are from recent memory (I bought a spoiler and bootlid together then had both resprayed) there are;
Four oval holes for the blue clips that slot in.
Then there are two really short bolts for the holes that go directly over the rubber corner bumpers.
There are six medium length and four long bolts, all will require the rubber gaskets or you're in a world of hurt....
That's twelve bolts, gaskets and nuts and four plastic inserts with gaskets and four clips. PLUS the wiring loom will need the stick on gasket adaptor as well if it's not there.
AS for fitment, the four holes the WRX spoiler comes out of are used, but mine's in the loft now so I can't remember which are round or slotted for adjustment.
For making holes you will need to make a template.
Fit the bolts and place a large sheet of preferably stiff card over it and push the bolts through so they all poke through. Remover the bolts that do not line up with the WRX holes and then sit the spoiler on and tape the card down and remover the spoiler. Drill and hope to hell you get it right!
Unfortunately, the front outer fix is the clip so you do get movement which is a pain, it would have been better a bolt, but all four clip fixings are blind over the inner boot frame.
Hope that helps without pictures. I forgot to take any! Doh!
The Genuine one will at least fit! I used double sided fixing tape, 6mm wide and de-glued the outer face to give me a tidy seal around the edges as we had to remove the original to paint.
I'm surprised if the bolts didn't come with as they are special ones. Two of them are secured with ring ties attached to a wire loop that runs up and over the top held taught by the panel under the top wing.
The spoiler is all hollow ABS plastic and the wire is coverd in foam insulator to stop banging about.
Remember the spoiler is designed to allow water to pass under it by the gaps in the corners. Do not seal them up!!! The water will collect on top and then wash forward otherwise soaking your boot when you open it.
The rubber gasket washers for the bolts work! The bolt is pulled down onto them giving a good seal. The design prevents pulling the spoiler down to damage it and it sits nicely on the 0.8mm thick tape I used. The plastic clips/inserts are the same as the WRX spoiler you just need two more sets. they have very thin gaskets but I sealsed mine with roofing silicone. Job done!
I think I've covered it, it really was much easier just bolting on the other boot lid and I didn't fancy drilling holes as mine is a Spec D and i can convert it back if they ever are desirable again (fat chance)....

i used these as thats what the guy i bought my genuine spoiler was using from ebay just type this number in the search you still need nuts 310235587949 get the nuts off ebay too
Never seen them before!
Seriously, the genuine spoiler is hollow ABS and you can't just jam any old thing into them and pull it down, these come with moulded recess point to fit a specific shaped dovetail head and the special bolts have large platforms to space the spoiler and prevent damage.
You MUST use the proper bits or you will either crack the spoiler or suffer leakage problems from hell!
As I said, you need two short, six medium and four long special bolts, 12 gaskets and 12M10 nuts. Four clips and four blue plastic lugs with gaskets.
Preferably a boot lid from an Sti or make a good template.
I can post the genuine Subaru part numbers for all bits if you want them.
If you try to bodge it, it will be a total waste of time getting a genuine spoiler- they look "right" only because they are bolted on right!

Ive been trying to get the fixings this is what i now have

6 x Medium nuts and bolts
3 x small nuts and bolts
1 X large bolt
4 X grey locating clips
2 X white clips
3 x black stickers
2 x silver nuts bolts + washers
I found this picture of a drilled out sti bootlid,
http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-exter...rear-wing.html
I can see were the large, medium and small nuts and bolts go, and im guessing the 4 grey locating clips go in the blue slots? Any idea what the below are for?
2 x silver nuts bolts + washers
3 x black stickers
2 x white clips
Now i know i need
1 x small bolt
and im guessing 1 x large bolt? Subaru told me that the long one's are not available separately would come with the sti spoiler so im guessing the washer and nuts do to?
Am i missing anything else?
Cheers
Shane
