Cheapest Uk Cars?
Hi
I really set my heart on an early WRX, and was looking around , but can't find anyone to insure me on one. I got a quote for a Uk car, and it's much more to my liking
The question is this : How much do I need to raise to get an early UK Car without it being accident repaired, ultra high mileage etc...
I have had a look in Autotrader, but can't work out the WRX's from the UK's
Anyone here bought a Cheap UK car?

I'm in the same boat but still hoping to find someone to quote me on a WRX... well I can get quotes but they are always DOUBLE that of a UK one!
Any early WRX is an import, the Turbo 2000 is the UK model. They are about the same price (although there seem to be less <£8k ones around) but apart from the wuss 200bhp
the most annoying thing is that they're not colour coded and you can't any black ones!

Oh and I'd say you're probably looking at about 7 or 8k for a decent unmolested 94/95 UK one with about 80k+ miles.
For about 9k you can just about get a '97 UK one, which is when it gets quite a facelift (much nicer interior, new grill, slight shape change and colour coded door handles woo!).
Unfortunately I can't quite raise 9k which is why I'm still hoping to get insured on a WRX...

I'm in exactly the same situation as you, I only have 7k ish at the moment really, and can't really stretch to 9k
Seen loads of WRX's , but simply cannot insure them
If you find someone who can, by all means tell me
I'm only 21 at the moment and an extra £1500 per year for a WRX is a joke

I just bought my 97 UK turbo wagon for GBP6995 privately. It has 80K and a FSSH and is very clean on the inside, although the outide has a small scuff on the bumper! I'm very happy with it really and it seems to drive like new!

think half the reason the price hike for insurance on the imports of that era is that insurers consider them to be VERY expensive/impossible to fix over the UK cars(more parts redily available) that is one reason why the Integra Type R is also v-exp to insure- you cant get a shell for one in the Uk, period(I tried!) so loads get written off with relatively little damage done.
I don't know where you guys get your quotes from - after shopping around I found there was no differnce between my import and a UK spec.
try harder for insurance!!!!!!
and before anyone asks no I don't have the name of the company that insured me, the policy was with Highway tho.
