I'm a new Subaru owner, I've recently bought an absolutely standard 99 turbo impreza

I previously owned an RX8, which was amazing to drive, but just lacked power and was way too delicate to maintain and drive.

I love the subaru, but, what can I do to kill its understear?

I've put less tyre pressure on rears, but didn't seem to make much difference.
I'm keen to make some suspension mods, but keen to make the mods that promote oversteer.

Any help would be great

 

Less pressure in rears will make things worse lol. Try 32psi front 36psi rear.

Solid Drop links

So that would be:

- White Line drop links?
- New anti roll bar - can you advise which one?
- Geometry settings... sorry, i'm not that techy yet! Give me time. What does that involve?

Geometry, 4 wheel alignment, setting the wheels up correctly, leaning in/out angle also the tracking all around.
Sure someone can get you the figures you need to get it set up correctly, I`m in need of them as mine needs doing too lol.

 

negative camber on the front, dccd gearbox would help lol

 

Slow in fast out is a rule! Driving a 4wd car is completely different to what you had before.

 

Approximately 1.5 degrees negative camber will transform the handling of your car!
22mm rear whiteline adjustable arb and standard front arb will encourage more **** out oversteer
Neg camber is easily dialed in yourself if you know anything about the car but your better getting it done professionally to ensure both sides are exact

 

I was having the same problem with my classic and was getting quite annoyed tbh

I fitted a set of BC coilovers and had them set up to the settings prodrive suggest, the difference is night and day, I've not had any understeer atall so far !

 

As above, stiffer arb on the REAR, leave the front alone.
Uprated solid droplinks all round.
Then geometry setup.

Mine was done at Carnetix at Melton Mowbray. They talk you through what you want, what the changes mean to things like tyre wear etc and then set it up for you.

Mine was transformed.

 

sorry to butt in alcazar but would a four point underbrace also help as i was looking to do the same and adding the brace aswell on my type-r

to many braces can upset the car on our road but yes to the roll bars and drop links on the rear and a dan good geo set up will help even with out the above added

 

alk would be ok aswell then? oh one more thing are rear strut braces advisable or wounldnt i see any difference? as i dont use the car for the track
