Question Tell me about 'Genome'...

I've seen a few threads that mention Genome accessories such as an exhaust, dials etc but wondered who 'Genome' really were? (A quick search hasn't brought up any results). Are they an official upgrade company in Japan like Prodrive are in the Uk?

Also, where are their products normally bought from? Did they ever come as standard or factory fit options? Why do they cost so much second hand?

Just asking as I quite like the look of the backbox but i'm not sure of the sense in buying a second hand exhaust

Genome are an STI accessory, so gauges, backbox etc, you need to find the STI japan accessories catalogue on the sti japan website

I paid £300 for a rear genome backbox in good condition but on japanparts.com they are close to a grand plus tax and shipping, quality is good though, I am very happy with mine

What are they made out of? Don't they rust?
Were they never standard then?
