You have an Apexi ECU - so fault code finding doesn't apply.
If you have a OEM 4-plug ECU you could temp swap it over and run a check again... just to see if anything obvious flashes up.
When you say the CEL came on (obv with the Apexi), "how" did it show up i.e. solid, or flashing?
If flashing can you describe the pulsing? Was it very rapid? If so, then this means the programmed knock threshold warning was breached.

Out of interest what does a "slow" flashing CEL mean??
The Apexi CEL can be set up to indicate IDC, MAF and knock warnings (mapper sets voltage level trigger points to what he or customer desired).
The knock CEL is extremely rapid. The other two warnings are slower i.e. longer pauses/pulses. It says in the Commander user manual how the flashes specifically behave (I can't recall at the moment).
