Noticed when i started the car this morning that a puff of blue smoke came from the exhaust. Any ideas? Really dont need it to be an expensive thing
When the car starts warm it does'nt seem to be there.

Im guessing would be either piston rings or valve stem seals maybe....does it happen everytime the car has been standing for a little while?
If its only a tiny bit i wouldnt worry too much at this stage, keep an eye on your oil level tho.

Mine always used to have quite noticeable smoke on start up on cold days, that always seemed to have a blue look about it, but I had it for about a year and a half without any issues. Even had it checked out (dyno) by a specialist and then mapped by Andy Forrest. Neither of them found anything to be wrong with it, although it was running rich before it was mapped, possibly due to mods that hadn't been mapped in.

It could be that when the engine was built all the carbon was removed from the valve stems sometimes allowing oil down the guides when stood for any time this causes that if its that it should cure itself
Reckon you'll be alright, as bugeyejohn says, but wouldn't want you to make any decisions based on my opinion! If you're worried then it's maybe best getting it seen to by a specialist, and at least then you'll have peace of mind.

Very common for a perfectly good engine to do that, especially noticeable on a cold day, when water vapour mixes with even a tiny bit of oil burning to produce what appears to be a lot of smoke. Even worse with a large bore tailpipe!
Bear in mind the Scooby engine lying on its side makes it vulnerable to a small amount of oil pooling in the bore.
I would suggest monitoring the oil consumption. That's what really matters.
