Default Service stamps or well documented invoicing

One thing that pops into my mind is a debate of "FSH book being stamped" or very well "documented invoicing and receipts."

My service book has been stamped beyond the miles its done due to the previous owners love of the car and very regular oil changes etc.

When you guys get you cars services due you instance on having the book stamped even if its not scheduled for a service at that point.

My 03 WRX has gone beyond the printed slots and now RCM draw there own and stamp it. But only at service intervals. If I have anything done in between those times then I keep all receipts anyway. I have a folder full of them. The book is purely for service interval stamps, there is no room for loads of them extra.

A stamped book is worthless without the receipts to back it up as you can stamp a book up at home.
You can get dealer stamps made up easily enough and most buyers wouldn't take a second glance.

If I were buying a used car I would expect to see paperwork relating to work done to the car outside the regular servicing schedule. To my mind it demonstrates a fastidious owner.

My book is fully stamped, altho its previous owner didnt give me the paperowork - i did however ring up the garage that had done the last service and got them to confirm the work, and to tell me if there was anything they had advised/noted on their service records.
