Other than purely by weight......is there any other way of telling the difference between an alloy and a steel bonnet??
Purely for car breaking/ebay purposes....
Trying to decipher if this guy has an alloy bonnet- it is from an imported STI so it SHOULD be....but you never know in some cases (or if infact he really does have an STI!!)
Cheers,
Chris

Yes, stick a magnet on it or try to, if alloy then it will not attach, use some magnetic (kids) alphabet type letters the sort you see on fridge doors and that will work.
These also work for spotting filler/repair work on cars especially areas like wheel arches

I will get him to try a magnet on it and see

although this is a little ambiguous being there is not an alternative bonnet manufactured in the other material to compare it to
The magnet leaves no room for doubt whatsoever it sticks to steel and falls straight off of alloy when released.

I'd stick (or not as the case may be) with the magnet
