Default Wrx v2 import, Which turbo/ecu comes standard?

Right ive got a wrx v2 import model number gc8c48d and engine ej20gdw4he. Is the standard turbo on my car a td05? Also is the z4 ecu standard also? I will look at the ecu tomorrow under the footwell to see if it has anything on it to say its been played with..
This came about because i thought these were uprated parts but now i have been told different can someone shed some light.. Thanks in advance

What I said before should be correct. You said it goes better than your old STI. Was it a newage?

As for the Z4 ecu. In standard form they should produce 260ps ish but if you think it has been mapped or chipped open up the footwell and take a look. If it still is not obvious that a chip has been added open up the ECU and look in the bottom right corner of the circuit board. If it has no chip then you will see two rows of solder joints. If it has a chip then it will be fitted into the two rows of solder.

Standard 260 ish. With chip usually up to 280 depending on other mods.

A Z4 on its own cannot be mapped so it should be obvious if it has been added to. The only other way to map would be to fit an aftermarket ECU, this too should be obvious as the manufacturers name will be written on it. The Z4 ECU will say 'Z4' in blue on the case.

I had a v3 Sti before I had my last Scoob which was a newage. Will check the ecu out tomorrow and get back to you, just in hindsight what would be needed to reach let's say 350 bhp on my set up? 6 speed box etc??

550 injectors. ESL chip and mapping or aftermarket ECU. The TD05 may just do it, only just though. Forged internals if you want it safe. Gearbox would work but not for long if you used the power. Filter. TMIC from a later car or FMIC. Decat.

EDIT I copied your list of mods so other can help too

td05 turbo
z4 ecu
hks dumpvalve
hks induction kit
hks turbo timer
lowered on eibach suspension
18in alloys
strut brace
fmic
quick shift
oil guage oil press volt boost guages
tints all around
4in jap ex to turbo
hdi lights
had a face lift v3
walbro fuel pump

Basically bigger injectors and another ecu and remap, the box is partly the reason for me needing something else, I am doing a lot of miles on the motorway now and just can't live with the 5 speed on the motorway, at 80mph 4k revs right on the spool up is hardwork...

6 Speed would be best if you want 350 but bloody expensive with the diff to match. You could keep it as you have it and fit a UK box, don't know if you'd need a matching diff with that though. Even with diff it should be cheaper than 6 speed.

Think i am just going to sell on tbh as i my needs have changed. Am swaying to something like the b5 s4 or maybe even a bmw 540. Sad to say but i miss my old 535 m sport.

Are you interested in mine then? Would rather it go to someone off here.

Yes, which the Z4 didnt come with from the factory.

Btw: referring to it as a 'V2' is incorrect and will only lead to confusion. Subaru only named series-production Classic STI models with 'version numbers'. This is a C-Series car, equally correctly referred to as a 1995 model year or MY95 etc.

The WRX STI Version 2 was a MY96 car, which was a C2-Series.

Yeah just to mirror what has been said above. Someone has certainly prepared it for a chip before. I can't see if the J1 link has been cut and repaired though.

When you fit a chip into these ECUs you have to cut the J1 link on the circuit board to make the ECU read the chip instead. This one is certainly running the standard subaru map ATM.

Either that or someone has put a different board inside the Z4 case!!

the board looks original as it has the correct code 000 D17 on it which is a z4.
but yes, someone has fitted a chip at some point and then taken it out.
