Default Strange noise on start up...

Not sure if this is the right section but any help would be great

My MY00 Uk Turbo has been running sweet as, no worries at all. Then yesterday I went to start it and when I turned the key there was no attempt to start just a scraping noise.

I turned the ignition off straight away, put the alarm back on and off, then started again and it started as normal.

Any ideas as to what it was?? It wasnt a particularly metalic noise or anything really bad sounding, like something was stuck or slipping?

Thanks for any help, Ive been told it might be fly wheel trouble?

Cheers

Tom

Or maybe starter motor / pinion , which does engage with the gear on the flywheel.

Is your battery fully charged? Starter could be sluggish due to low battery power?
