Check the boot and under the dash for water ingress. Sort out any leaks here first.

In addition make sure that the controls are set for fresh air not recirc. If you have aircon then that will demist the car very quick.

Also leave your sun visors down that will help and make sure the vents are set to open

Happened on my my99 classic and turned out to be a split in the heater matrix. Check the back of the centre console and see if there is any moisture there.

Tim - I had the same problem with my type R - had a leaking heater matrix and my boot leaked - as soon as I sorted has been fine so check both of these out.

Mine did it when the boot leaked, take the rear light cluster out seal it with some mastic and that should go some way towards helping you.

I've got a similar problem, boots now bone dry (did have a leak) and recirc is definitley off and functional, but if I get more than one person in the car on a cool day ithe rear steams up a treat. I'm getting stumped now, its almost as if the air isn't venting from the car properly. I can't smell coolant, but I'm beginning to wonder.

How does a heater matrix start leaking?
