Default Well Lane Turbo Centre

I've enquired about a car that was bought at Well Lane some time ago and I could do with some opinion on the place.

I've been there a couple of times and I wasn't too impressed [at the car I looked at] which was an RB5. It was a bit rough and really should have been smartened up before it went on the forecourt imo.

Another car I looked at was a Bugeye STI which looked ok but overpriced.

Thanks

Avoid at all costs. I've been ripped off by them in the past. The only bloke who I had time for there was Barry. One of the lads in the workshop, the rest were all cowboys.

Shame.

The car isn't being sold by them, but Well lane did sell the car to someone nearly 3 years ago and they are now selling. I was quite keen until the seller informed me he bought it from Well Lane.

It's a newage STI and i'm wondering wether it makes any difference that Well Lane sold it, however i'm not overly confident due to their poor rep.

Really, we went there to get the scooby checked over after a full exhaust fitted.
Excellent service but that was the rolling road side, not the car dealership side.

I bought my RB5 from there. It was mint, tad over priced but absolutely mint.

Don't suppose you know what number RB5 it was you looked at do you?

Their cars were generally good. My experience was in buying an exhaust and then having a chip fitted (to a Rover).

Don't know the number. It would have been March/April 08 and the previous owner was a female. The last 3 service stamps were Well Lane aswell.

They imported cheap bugeye's from europe a few years ago.......I bought one and saved quite a few quid. They added a few aftermarket bits with shoddy workmanship but this was 2002 and I didn't know better.

They have rolling road days which I must admit are great fun, mostly because of the people you meet because the results are a little optimistic LOL

I would never have work done by them or buy a car from them unless I knew exactly what I was buying.

Hopefully Well Lane didn't touch the Newage STi and just sold it on so no problems .....any links to the sale ?

Shaun

The car is completely standard...........makes me wonder if they could have actually caused problems with the car or like you say, just simply sold it on.??

My RB5 was in the GF's name and was traded in for a BMW 120D M Sport at around that time.

It could well be the same car and ended up back there it had been used and abused over the 3 years I owned it and was a little rough around the endges when I finished with it.

I used to go there around 15 years ago in my cosworth days - always found them OK. That said, it was a long time ago.

If they were selling the car now, then yeah based on what has been said approach with caution. As it ain't and was sold by them 3 years ago it dosent mean a thing. Treat the car as you would any other. Make comprehensive checks and be thorough.

The car could have been sold by RCM or Andy Fish 3 years ago and that wouldnt mean a thing as the current owner has been using the car for that time.

Forget the well lane tag and appraoch the car on its merits mate - just be carefull and pay particular attention to the things that cost - ie engine and drivetrain.

got my scooby from them nearly 2 years ago now !! found them excellant to deal with !! the car was a tad overpriced but i got more than i wanted for my trade in !!so swings and roundabouts lol, plus i couldnt find one at the time with similar low mileage without travelling a few hundred miles all in all was very happy plus as they r a small buisness i dont think they would be still trading if they had such a bad name

I nearly bought an 05 STI from these guys. Wasn't mint, but it was ok because I was getting a cracking deal (warranty thown in, etc). But then changed my mind when I did an HPI check which had some strange information on it about changing number plates, and even information about a Toyota MR2! Needless to say, I ran a mile!

It was actually about this time last year. It was a black STI they'd had for ages and couldn't sell for some reason. I test drove it too and wasn't impressed with that either, felt like it had been ragged. Gears were clunky, clutch didn't feel right and the brakes felt line they weren't even working! The guy from the garage said this was because it hadn't been used for a few months, but I wasn't convinced...

Had two cars off them (Rover 220 turbo and my first Subaru). Both cracking cars and never had a moments bother with either. Not been for a few years.

have you seen the car !

surely you should judge the car on how it appears !!

not the garage where the seller bought the car some 3 years ago !!!
