I used auto glym tar remover to take some rubber strips off my car worked really well .I think you will be able to adjust your hand brake in the car under the hand brake leaver on the cables but the propper way requires taking the rear discs if you do this be carefull not to damage your abs ring.As for you boot gaps does it have rubber stops you can adjust gettin gap rite is hard a hard thing to do.

Search button is your friend: https://www.scoobynet.com/essex-scoo...djustment.html about third post down

Stickers/sticky pads can be removed by liberally soaking with WD40, leave for a few minutes, clean off with paper towels etc, redo if any residue left.

nail varnish remover will get sticky off and the boot open it and push or twist it by hand the way you want it to go sounds like it is sprained or if not confident to do this slot your holes in your hinges and pull it over that way.

you can adjust the shoes by looking through the hole of the wheel bolt, or you may even have a little rubber blank on the backing plate. you just use a screwdriver. hope this helps.
