well im contemplating a 6 paddle racing clutch, anyone run one as a daily drive???

had a drive with 1 yesterday at santa pod and thought it was great....advise from friends is that it pould be a pain in town traffic....

what do you reckon???

 

I think you should leave it for the track myself ...... there is a reason they are not a common sight on the roads.

 

What sort of torque you putting out?

 

about 350 at the moment...im looking at the new litchfield when it finally hits the shelves so thought a new clutch may help matters......yeah or nay???

 

You won't need/want a paddle clutch at that level.

If you are thinking over going 400/400 or more with the litchfield twinscroll that exedy clutch will not last long on the track or if launching, it will not be able to take the engine torque. API engines do a heavy duty version. its an organic friction plate and good for 440ftlb of torque. The other option is a paddle clutch but a bit of a gamble on a road going car.
I have a stage 2 exedy 6 speed paddle clutch kit, but am having second thoughts about fitting it.

 

DONT buy a paddle clutch.... i had a 6 puck in my evo and it was horrible. Not the bite though, that was very assuring, the noise however was the worst part, thought it would be tolerable! How wrong i was.

Plus you have to explain the noise when you sell!

i didn't really think it through properly. The car is often used to commute as well as for track use, plus i'm a bit of a softy lol. It's on ebay if you are interested.

 

I have just been speaking with Dave at api and he has just sold me one off these clutches and Dave has said this will take my 370ft 390bhp and it was about 150.00 cheaper then an AP clutch, top man

 

ps dont buy a competition clutch as they are as good a banana skin on the floor slippy give dave at api a ring
