97 sti ECU
Hi,I have a 97 sti fully rebuilt by AJ in plymouth around 2 years ago done 5000 miles now feel like its run in.it has been built to further mod down the road and well here i am ready to mod some more.It has wiesco pistons technic turbo cosworth bearings.exeedy clutch...
1. i've been told that nothing can be done with the standard ecu.Why can nothing be done with the standard ECU in my import are there no other options at all?
2.What is the best way to do this...F.M.I.C and then ecu?
3.what is the best all round ecu to go for?
4.who would you recommend to map my car?
5.what are the main benefits to anti lag and do you need it?
6.Am i taking a big gamble on buying second hand ecu on ebay or the like?
7.can a second hand ecu be mapped by anyone?
i hope you knowledgeable people will give me some of your experiences of the possible pitfalls and gains for me.Many thanks

you can now have the v3/4 ecu piggybacked for about 500 quid including mapping , its called an esl daughter board, not long been out, not a bad piece of kit either for the money, you can run mafless, twin maps, knock correction etc etc

I don't want to be pendantic but it isn't a piggyback. By that definition so is Syvecs as it is an interface board added to a life racing ECU.
Apart from that spot on, twin full map, 3 stage knock control, switchable maf/mafless load, actual OEM hot/cold starting and idle, clsoed loop fuelling, full OEM diagnostics and very comprehensive forthcoming motorsport pack. £295+VAT for the hardware.
