Default How much for a newage STI?

I'm considering buying a new daily driver and quite fancy a newage STI. The thing is the prices seem to be all over the place.

I can see what they're being advertised for but how cheap can you actually buy a decent standardish one for?

Got my 06 plate Hawkeye STI with PPP and 31k on the clock for 14k.

Having said that it's now closer to 17k having had to put 4 new tyres on it, service it, and then have the head gasket go :'-(

Now that's what I'm talking about ^^^^^

Blobeye preferred but willing to compromise if it's cheap enough.

Seen a couple of blobs up at 7k but interested to know what they're really selling for.

Go for a 03sti, much much better than the 02 cars and a performance bargin now.

I've had my 03sti from new-yep had it for nearly 7 years! and no I'm not selling it, but it's been a great car.
I'm guessing it's worth 8k private sale.

Dunno mate.

Definately the cheaper end of the scale. Was thinking circa £5k.

Ah, OK.

There's a thread on the first page for a Bug01 PPP for about £5k if that helps.

Go for a 2003 STI onwards at least - JDM preferably, as these have stronger engine components compared to their predecessors as well as many other uprated bits and there is more scope for easy engine power increase if you so wish.
Also if you go for a JDM thats been in the country since before 2006 you'll be on £190 a year tax band and not around £400 (a small bonus i guess).

MY03 = 8K

Hi there for what it is worth I would stretch as far as you can with the cash and go for the lowest milage/best condition you can afford. I was thinking the same thing, get a bargain, but you get what you pay for, better of getting an expensive classic rather than a cheap newage. I ended up getting a 2004 sti 20 000 on the clock with some really pricey sensible mods for 9k. At the end of the day you are going to have loads of fun in a good scooby regardless of the vintage, and loads of grief and expense in a bad one!

Cheers.

I got my 06 Hawkeye Sti PPP for £14,995 but paid £200 extra to swap out the gold alloys for a set of new silver ones. Mileage of 27k and receipts for absolutely everything. I got it from a Subaru Dealership and got 12 month warranty, 1 yr European breakdown cover, 3 years gap insurance. Am sure I paid more than I should have but have been almost shafted so many times buying cars (one was a cat D, other had been clocked) the peace of mind was worth it.

You will be looking at a bug STI then with a fair few miles on or maybe a blob with very high miles if you are lucky
