I have a MY 97/98 Prodrive ECU which I bought in good faith from this BB.Now I'm selling it I've been asked by prospective purchasers if there are any codes/etc on the ECU which prove it is a Prodrive item (you cynical lot!)
Can anyone help?

Not sure if its the same for 97/98 as 99 but it should have a pink STi badge on it and maybe a Prodrive Logo (?)

Maybe somebody who knows can confirm?

Hope this helps.

Hi Mole, tks for you reply. Unfortunately I only have the ECU board
itself without the external casing,so I was looking at finding codes/stickers on the ECU board itself.I'll try Prodrive but I've never found them particularly helpful in the past :-(
Cheers, John

I know the early ECU's had a chip mounted in a removeable socket. If it wasn't a Prodrive then the Chip wasn't fitted.

John,

Be aware that I am referring to a Pre'97 ECU.
I'm not sure of the changes other than the Connectors and Pin-Out. However, if you have a Blank IC socket i.e a missing chip then it is probably similar to the early versions.

No Chip = No Prodrive.

Scooby Racer will probably have a definitive answer.....

Scott, I checked last night, bear in mind I didn't have the std ECU
with me as it's installed in the car, but on first inspection there doesn't seem to be any removable chipsets on my PPP ECU, maybe it's different for MY 97/98.I'll mail Scooby Racer. Tks for all your help.Cheers,John

The main chip runs different serial numbers - someone needs to open their PPP ecu & have a look & post

Me? I'm at work at the moment

Cool

Yup

MY99 ECU (sitting in my office ) reads

WA12212920WWW
832D107

That was the only noticable difference I could find between MY99 ECU & Prodrive MY99 ECU

PPP one is in PTMW! in the garage

Hi PTMW, I've got A12-212-750 then 751B101 below (on the main chip)
This is on my "PPP" ECU.I think the numbers are different between MY 97/98 & MY 99. Also I have A19-001-DC1 written in the middle of
both ECUs.
I'll try to check the main chip number on the std ECU tonight or tomorrow, no lights in my garage:-( cheers John

Right, had the cover off my std ECU at the weekend.
I think the answer is in the blue sticker on the yellow plastic part of the ECU.
On my standard ECU it has 000 then below D37
whereas on the "PPP" ECU I have 000 then DV8 below.
Any kind Ladies or Gents out there willing to take the casing off their 97/98 PPP ECU & tell me what's written on their blue sticker?
Or,if they have the original Prodrive/STI casing, what is written on their casing? (It will be something like: A18-000-DV8)
Cheers, John
