Fitting a decat pipe without a remap?

Default Fitting a decat pipe without a remap?

I have got a 1994(260ps) wrx,it has a cat back exhaust fitted and i want to know if i fit a decat pipe without a remap will i get much of a bhp gain and will it do any harm to my engine?

I think you would need a remap mate to get the real gains. If I was you don't drive the car on boost till you get it mapped better to be safe than sorry!!

it will be fine ,yes a remap will get the best out of it.

So it wont cause any damage to my engine or anything else by fitting it now?even if i dont get my car remapped for a couple/few months?

I will also be porting my headers at the same time btw.

i ran my 93 wrx for about 4 years with no remap at least 3 dyno runs within that 4 years and it was fine
Porting headers shouldn't cause any problems as ,with the decat, you're just making the exhaust gases escape quicker adding spool up,if in doubt put it on a rolling road to check the fuelling etc

This will be my first mod im doing.

Did feel much of a difference without getting it remapped?

yes the spool up is quicker i.e. turbo spools up at slightly lower revs (didn't have ported headers though just decat)

you dont need a remap to run a ful decat on the classics. I ran mine without a remap. i didnt have over boosting problems either.
