Fitting a decat pipe without a remap?
I have got a 1994(260ps) wrx,it has a cat back exhaust fitted and i want to know if i fit a decat pipe without a remap will i get much of a bhp gain and will it do any harm to my engine?
Thanks for any info.:thumb: |
I think you would need a remap mate to get the real gains. If I was you don't drive the car on boost till you get it mapped better to be safe than sorry!!

I will also be porting my headers at the same time btw. |
i ran my 93 wrx for about 4 years with no remap at least 3 dyno runs within that 4 years and it was fine :)
Porting headers shouldn't cause any problems as ,with the decat, you're just making the exhaust gases escape quicker adding spool up,if in doubt put it on a rolling road to check the fuelling etc |

yes the spool up is quicker i.e. turbo spools up at slightly lower revs (didn't have ported headers though just decat)

you dont need a remap to run a ful decat on the classics. I ran mine without a remap. i didnt have over boosting problems either.
