Fair enough ,the filter may be sucking in hot air unless properly sheilded which isn't good.
How have you increased the boost?

Ask the guy you bought it off what he did.
My 93 wrx with a manual boost controller set for 0.95 bar hit 270bhp and that is just under the standard fuel cut.

sounds like a boost leak check all joins on the rubber pipework from the turbo to inletmanifold.

Calm down, take a breath, the hks is prob sucking in hot air from the engine bay, the original setup would prob be more efficient, hot air will drop your power slightly, a fcuked cat will drop power lots, could be many other things. wait for your rolling road and go from there.

standard boost on a 95 wrx is only 0.9 bar anyway so that is right. Not sure where you got 1.1 from as only 1996 onward STi run 1.1 bar standard. If the only mods you have is an HKS mushroom filter then its probably zapping the power and you are nearer 230bhp.Get a decent free flowing induction kit (if you must have one) and a nice cold air feed from the front of the car it will improve the breathing of the car dramatically

No suggestions about sorting out heat management and the intake then?

IMO the HKS filter (tat ) or any induction kit is pointless without a decent heatshield or unless a cold air kit... and I think you might find thats what other well respected, long time members may be driving at...
