Default VF28 onto version 5/6 engine

Hi All,

Is a VF28 a straight bolt on job on a version 5/6 engine or does it have to be modified for the oil/water feed pipes?

Cheers,
Imran

If the car it is going on is a wrx with a TD04 turbo then the oil banjo and water pipes are different and would have to be swapped with the water pipes and banjo from the VF28

the oil banjo as tc says is different.. the TD04 has an unrestricted oil supply, the vf28 a restricted 0.8mm oil banjo etc..

I though that the other connections could be made to fit though.. but not 100% certain.

Well, a regular non-STi MY99 WRX saloon is fitted with a VF29 (I think it's slightly smaller turbo than the 28)... but whether the oil/water pipes are a different size, etc., wouldn't know.

But as said above, is it a MY99 WRX wagon with the totally different TD04L? If so, that would explain why the water/oil pipes are different.

Sorry to hijack this thread but.....I am planning the same upgrade. I was told that the pipes from the TD04 would fit, I have the pipe with the heat shielding on it attached(oil pipe???). I also have the smaller pipes with the plastic t-piece on it. Do I need other pipes as well? I think the one that's missing is to the header tank? Apologies again.
