I looked at these, and after a long chat with David at Api, was put off the ACT clutch/flywheel. But i have no personal experience with them.

Have a chat with David at Api, when i did, he didn't sound too fused by the ACT stuff. Do any of the top tuners supply them? I spoke to Zen too, same response.
Again, i have no personal experience on this, so they may be great!

BOB5 sells them on this site. I run one in my car with no problems at all and I have even launched the car and still no bother

the guys over on rs25.com reccomend them, either the organic or twin plate, and the organics rated at something like 430ftlb torque. sounds like a winner to me.

Most tuners don't recommend them as they want you to spend £1200 on a Twin Plate instead.

There's plenty of cars out there running these at over 500bhp / 500tlbs. Without any bother whatsoever.

The only thing I've heard about these on a negative note is that the pedal is quite stiff.

I could live with that.

Ive had the 5 speed 6 paddle ACT clutch fitted for about 10 months now. And I cant fault it to be honest. Yeah the pedal is a bit stiff, but nothing to worry about. Ive done maybe 30 full bore launches on it. Most at 511bhp, but now at 570bhp/480lbft and still holding strong.

the stiffness is to do with the clutch being sprung or un-sprng isnt it?

No it's to do with the strength of the pressure plate. The higher the clamping force the harder the peddle feel.
A sprung clutch has springs on the firction disc that cusions some shock when you change gear an unsprung clutch doesn't thus take up with an unsprung clutch is quite hard.

I have the heavy duty pressure plate in mine and a 6puck unsprung plate and the pedal isn't stiff. But its a nightmare to pull away slowly, Pulling away fast is no issue

Think the Yanks love the ACT clutches as well. I've randomly read on US sites that they run very well, and seem 'standard' while running decent power.

I have imported quite a few ACT clutches which look like value for money. These have been used on my own cars and customer cars. One clutch suffered from very bad judder, right from the start with a new flywheel and the other had a broken spring/finger.
The problem comes when you have a defective item and want to process a warranty claim as sending it back to the U.S. is expensive.

The Api modified Exeedy organic I'm running will take 400/400 all day long, the box will give up long before the clutch. They replace the friction material, and re-build the pressure springs, it's lighter than the standard one i had! Also, most importantly, they have just about the best reputation for customer service, should it go wrong.
Give David a call!

No, i paid £368 for the clutch, and £172.50 for the lightend flywheel. Give them a call, just to double check, as i had them fitted in January. The fitting cost is about £200.
