More expensive, but far higher actual torque ratings. Organic version rated to 515ft/lbs of torque

I'll be upgrading to ACT as the current Exedy Uprated Organic is slipping and I want more margin for more torque.

Had great feedback on these from our customers.

i was wanting to keep a daily driver of car and cant justify the price of hyper twin etc, ACT seemed to have a high torque hold at stage 1 comfort

Bob what is the most cost effective way to have a gearbox that happy with around 440ftlbs, i have a classic and have heard of the ppg route, which is costly and noisey, 6spd which i heard have bad ratios for the odd drag, can you just get uprated internals for my own 00 typer box?

Its the SB3-HDG6 looking their website.

Mines a 2.1L with a 6 speed box. My clutch and flywheel are a 5 speed version though.

Better, because it stays in one piece

Tbh I havent found it too bad, yeah it means an extra gearchange, but it seems to be doing ok for me. I just change as quick as I can.

There are 2 types of PPG kit, straight cut (noisy) and helical cut (hardly any more noise than standard), i believe helical should be able to cope with your torque

kenc: For PPG you will need to budget the best part of £3k. If you are lucky enough to pick one up secondhand, they go for around £2k.

6 Speed is a more economical way of having a strong box. The ones from the Forrester have better ratios. Expect to pay £1500-2000 for a 6 Speed.

You just have to weigh up the pros and cons of both. Yours may or may not last, but you could put the £400-£800 or so from the sale of your existing box towards an upgrade or you can carry on using it for as long as it lasts.

Yep straight and helical same price.

Dog engagement are about £500 more list price.

I have 1/2 straight, 3/4 helical. Other than noise of 1/2, it drives like OE box (but longer ratios as mine Type R). You need a TY754 case for the PPG kit to drop in.

i have a 00 type r so i think that is correct box for ppg to fit into? and i can use my own diff yea? Bob your dead right and i was thinking of the idea of changing before i munce the box so i can sell it to offset the cost, i leave car in the more rwd setting and the organic clutch and 16" wheels i hope all lessn the impact on box, the organic clutch will slip with a hard launch, and hoping the 16" rims and diff setting will provide a bit of a buffer to box via wheel spin, where is best place that could supply the complete 6sp bits i would need?

Yes - you should have TY754 box.

Yes, you will retain your DCCD and existing diff setup.
