Default 02 uk Sti bugeye question

Was wondering, do the Uk sti's have forged internals on an 02 plate or was it just the later versions, or was it just the JDM's?

The Uk cars has "forged" internals, just dont expect them to be anywhere near as good as aftermarket items, as they are not.
The cars that had them fitted were the MY02-MY05 cars (2ltr STI) the 2.5 doesnt.

Don't let Tony's answer put you off buying a bugeye STi (I don't have one by the way)

Almost the best bang per buck scooby you can buy with 400BHP a reality with mods..........and even the gearbox will take it LOL

What's wrong with my answer? they are not anywhere near as good as aftermarket forged items, if anything they are some of the cheapest forged items you will get, just dont expect miracles from them, people think that because its forged its great because its stronger, but thats just the manufacturing process, you could still use crap metal in there or a crap design, and i have broken enough "forged" tools in my time to know that cheap isnt always best
So my point is, dont be fooled into thinking it means its considerably stronger on the standard internals, its stronger but not stupidly stronger.

Yeah I appreciate that they are not fantastic, but if they are a little stronger, that'll do for me. Would they be ok with 400/400? as it's usually torque that kills the rods anyway.

I would expect the clutch or gearbox to give up before the engine at that sort of power. I've got a cunning plan to see about 300bhp this year and then get a new turbo and injectors next winter to see around the 340 mark. Prior to that I'm getting and exedy clutch and lightweight flywheel fitted, but after 50k my clutch is starting to show signs of wear anyway

400/400 seems to be where most people stop on the standard internals, they can quite happily handle that sort of power, just dont go stupid and try 500bhp, they really dont like that

For whats in the engine they are good, for serious power or decent forged parts, they are not so good.

Mr. Alan Jeffrey has two customers up around the 450 bhp mark, as with many things in life some are good others are better.
