Default How does a STI Ver 5 or 6 compare to the 8

Hi Peeps...

Been looking on homepage at the STI ver 5 and 6

I take it these are all JDM models so they may be limited to 112 mph ?

Are they 5 or 6 speed boxes

And how do they compare to the UK STI ver 8 with PPP (the only scooby I have drove)...

Would the MPG be worst with the shorter gearing

as a first scooby would they be a good option ?

Ian

classic scoobs are better than newage (ver 7 +) imho. but im sure some people would disagree. ver 6 is the one to have.

Last of the classics...Lighter than the newage (versions 7+) thus power/weight plus handling is better... safe tunability seams do'able also...(with knowledge)

Just don't get in an accident... all that extra weight in the newage car is doing a job to protect u.

This is why the official subaru times for the new age spec c is better than that of the classic sti type ra
Its not all about power to weight! different gearing and more torque play their part too

Now to answer the OP's question, the JDM cars have improved over their classic predecessors, the UK ones are watered down power wise due to emissions but the parts used are stronger than those of the classics, though there are some classics that have more "feel" than that of a new age car, they are not all like that (new age cars that is ) with some being far better than their classic counterparts

So was i
The spec c is still in the main line up, a "standard" STI will post the same 0-100 times as that of the lightest weight classic they have improved a fair bit over time

same as all cars m8, depends how your driving it,but when your getting around 25 mpg does 1 or 3 matter

as a first scooby would they be a good option ?......
