ive a 53 plate jap import sti.....how would i know if this is a twin scroll???is it just a case of seeing what the turbo is???

That year JDM model will be twin scroll.

 

Another way is to tell is the burble. You will not have it with a twin scroll as the headers are equal length.

 

A twin scroll unit would not look any different to a single scroll unit when fitted on the car. You would have to remove the turbo in order to see the difference. Twin scroll refers to the fact that there is a divider in the exhaust housing, allowing the exhaust pulses from each cylinder to sepearted and allow for a more efficient build up of boost.

Your car will have a twin scroll setup being that MY. It will be an IHI VF37 unit.

 

i had a vortex fitted at xmas and was told the old girl had equal length headers, would this give any answers to whether or not twin scroll....


sorry for my ignorance, il go hunting the turbo number in the morning...

just wanting to know the best mods for the jgm map and the sort of power to expect...

As above you will notice the twin scroll has lost the burble due to the equal lenght headers, twin scroll uppipe and twin scroll turbo.

just trying to find if im twin scroll or not...some say twin scroll came in on the 04 model others say mine could be on a 53 plate....not managed to find turbo number yet...lol.....but i know ive got equal length headers...

will be visiting jgm in the next couple of months....looking at what you have done gives me some food for thought...thanks....

 

Providing your turbo has not been changed, you will defo have a twin scroll.
