i have a 97 uk turbo 2000 and the crankshaft is bent and i havent driven it to prevent further damage i have purchased a new crankshaft and bearing kit just need it fitting as quick as poss and anyone got a ball park figure on price

did post up before on how to change the crank but people said its difficult so now i need someone to do it for me

 

Pick a nydecent specialist but it is pretty much a full rebuild, so your looking at minimum of £1500.

even if it is just the crank that needs changing and everything else is fine and what would the labour charges be, i have sourced all of the parts already i have avoided driving the car to try and limit the damage to only the crank the car is perfectly drivable so nothing detrementally wrong just want it changed for piece of mind

 

If the engine is still in running order, how can you be certain that the crankshaft is bent. I would have thought with the build tolerences that it would either wreck the block or would not rotate.

 

oh and a shout out to banny's sti saw it at the ESC tunnel run what a cracking looking car just wondered where you got your front splitter from coz i want one lol

 

it is bent towards the end of the crank near the pulley and you can see where its bent as the pulley rotates in a circle insted of just spinning and dont want to drive it before it starts vibrating and that resulting in the block being knackered the crank is in good order inside the engine its just where it meets the pulley bought it off a tw*t who hit the pulley with a hammer to get it off

 

Hmm sounds like the pulley or the retaining woodruff key could be knackered and it might not be the crank after all.

But the above is only a guess as i cannot see it for myself.
