With that mileage it should be pretty mint so check bodywork and expect it to be pretty much mint, do a full HPI check with NMR check for mileage, check the PPP paperwork and/or phone prodrive with reg number to confirm.

Check everything twice. VIN number against V5 and HPI report. As its low mileage, make sure your happy that its not been clocked. It will have only had one mot so check the mileage on that. NMR will tell you if its been HPI'd before at higher mileage.

I would be expecting the owner to have changed all the oils, diff, gearbox etc recently aswell..Other than that check the usually things, and look for signs of accident damage. Personally speaking I had a 2002 newage sti and it never let me down once but I changed all the fluids every 6k and the oil every 3k at the most....

Also make sure that he ran it on superplus as prodrive recommend 98ron and you would be suprised how many owners think that because its a uk car that 95 ron will fine...

i'll second that -- I bought a 5 door Golf GTI 16v a couple of years ago, I had the car over two years -- and it was only when I came to sell it that I noticed the V5 said 3 door hatchback

all ok as I rang VW who were very helpful, they confirmed it left the factory as a 5 door (and wrote me a conformation letter)

but I did feel a bit of a numbty
