Saw these on fleebay and just wanted some opinions. My new wheels will be arriving shortly after Crimbo and thought these would be a nice touch. Seen some on Scoobyworld at £3 at shot, that will soon add up!

Light alloy by the looks of it, anodized.

Wouldn't like my wheels to be secured using such lightweight items!

 

Think it depends on what wheels you are fitting as well as to how good they look

 

Fitment is to a Dare Drift RS in bronze, maybe gunmetal. I take your point though, light alloy may be a bit weak? Hard to say.

 

I've thought about a set of these before. Someone else can try before me though

 

Porsche's use alloy wheel nuts and they heve no problems. But i would'nt buy cheap one's for my car, It's not worth the risk.

 

That only goes to show that you dont know what youre talking about. Ive got a 20yr old car that has had aluminium wheel nuts fitted since new and it is perfectly safe.

 

alloy is alloy guys, you don't seriously think RAYS cast their own lug nuts do you?

they get them cast in the same foundry that supplies the nuts to your ebay cheapies.

the anodising can be a bit ropey on the cheaper ones, but this is where the difference is. the important metal bit underneath is subjected to the same tests as anything else on the market

 

The only thing I can see happening is that if they are over tightened they may strip. And if you, as you should, check your nuts regularly they should be fine I'd have thought.

The other thing I was wondering about was the fittment to the wheel. They are designed for standard wheels I think, so would the countersunk part of the nut (where it touches the wheel) fit after market ones?

Also, with alloy wheels isn't this part meant to be like a washer, is loose and can spin. So when you tighten the nut it doesn't grind away at the alloy?
