Mcrae Gathering and the light fingered fraternity
hi folks,
i was just thinking earlier on tonight while standing at my back door admiring
my pride and joy, that with such a concentration of scoobs heading for banbury
that the light fingered fraternity is bound to be well aware of this.
im sure you are all pretty excited to be attending this one off but i must err on the side of caution
and remind you (not that you would forget)to remember to arm all alarms and lock all yer doors
when leaving your pride and joy.
dont mean to put a dampner on things but im sure it will be like a tea leafs playground over
the weekend so be aware

especially the ones staying over night 
it is a shame to have to think about it, but i am sure someone will try it on, be it stealing the whole car or stealing items from inside the car.
at least they will have a host of people willing to help them find the scumbags and apply some justice.

this is the reason that we eventually picked a hotel AWAY from banbury for the night to be honest 
yes we have to do an extra 20 miles or so detour for "our" hotel, but we are far enough away "we hope" to not get bothered

We have had conversations with Thames Valley Police around this exact subject. We're all Scooby drivers ourselves so know what this event means.
We've not said anything publicly in case it put ideas into some thieveing scumbag's head, but since the subject has been raised...
We have requested and been assured that there will be an increased visible police presence over the weekend in and around Banbury and they will be carrying out extra patrols of hotel and B&B car parks. They will not be targetting the Scooby driver, but instead anyone who wants to take advantage of us being there. There are no guarantees, obviously, but they are committed to help us as much as they can.
To be honest, the Police forces we've had to deal with have been spot on in helping and accommodating us. Any one of them could have knocked us back which would screw up the whole event, but they've been great. (In saying that, if you act like a **** in your motor then they'll nail you - and they'll have our full blessing!)

but as the light fingered brigade never have a day off and seem to
