hi im new here has anyone on here had a problem like mine 1995 wrx mods sti headgaskets lightend fly wheel no cat turbo back stainless blitz back box hks dump valve piper cross induction kit my problem is engine misfire at 5000 rpm feels like the rev limiter is coming on does this misfire 2or3 seconds then clears and pulls strong also pulls cleanly to 5000 iv tried diffrent ecu and still the same engine only done 4000 since api rebuild everything else seems fine the car has had this problem since iv owned it so i dont know if it has appeared after any mods have been done i suppose the next step is a rolling road

 

Sounds like a coil packs breaking down maybe ?
Remove them and inspect also what plugs and gaps you using and how much boost ?

 

i have the same problem if u get it sorted let me know its a real pain

 

thanks have checked the coil packs look ok im not sure about the plugs need to try that next i bought a chip from a guy on ebay because before it was like hitting a brick wall at 5000 it was like fuel cut tried the new chip and now feels like the rev limiter is kicking in at 5000 . before i fitted the chipi had a problem with the idle if throttled hard and quick engine would almost cut out and would hunt up and down a few times before settling down the chip has helped but still stalls sometimes if i lift the throttle quickly but doesnt hunt anymore have checked the obvious like vacum pipes etc

a chip to upgrade the ecu but have since changed the ecu for the one from my wrx sportwagon and i have had this problem with both ecu s so iv my doughts if an ecu fault thanks
