Default Ecu location

Can someone tell me where i will find the ecu on my classic uk impreza? Is it somewhere on the passengers side? And when i find it, is it easy to check how many plugs it is? Will i need to disconnect anyhting, unscrew anything etc?

Help appreciated

Andy

Passenger side footwell. If you post your exact meodel here then someone will be able to tell you what model (Z4 etc) you have and its plug configuration.

Underneath the carpet on the passenger side. Pull the carpet back from under the glove box this will reveal a kick plate with bolts around it, I think its 5x10mm bolts. Undo these, be careful as this cover is very sharp around the edges. The ECU is under there.

Thanks for the replys.

tried lifting the carpet but it loks like its held captive by some trim on the passengers side door, and by a piece on the centre console. Does this all have to be removed also? I'm just trying to be certain that my R reg (97/98) Uk impreza has a 3 plug ecu. Can anyone confirm if this will 100% be the case?

Was it a 3 plug on yours? Do you happen to know the serial number?

Thanks
