Does it ask for your MOT number?

My Tax is up for remewal at the end of this month, and was wanting to do it online before I go away. I'm off on Hoilday on the 29th.
The car is in for it's service & MOT on the 28th, buy I won't have access to a computer on this day.

It doesn't ask for MOT number but it does check the database that your car is MOT'd (unless less than 3yrs old). I had a problem with doing it online for the missus's car last time as the MOT was due 3 days before the tax ran out. When it went away to check the MOT (which was 3 days before it expired AND it was the new type - ie. on the database) it came back saying I would have to go to a post office to do it!! I have done it online before and it is so much easier than messing with the post office. I decided to leave it and wait till I got the MOT done (on the 29th Feb with tax expiring at midnight). On the 29th afternoon once the MOT had been done, I went online and tried again - went through no problem and got the disc in the post a couple of days later.

Another vote for online Tax renewal

Also, they only check to see if your car is on the insurance database ...... Not who it insured by

Well you would think they would hceck that YOU are insured to drive the car, by your name being against the car on the register.
