For those who had read my previous post at the beginning of December when my house was broken into, car keys and car stolen :

Recieved a call from the local Police yesterday, they had found and recovered my car from a suburb in Bexleyheath. We went to the recovery yard to collect the car, it was covered in dirt but there is no damage to the body, it has a flat front tyre that has a large hole in the sidewall, this appears to be the reason the car was left, it helped having big brakes as the spare wouldnt fit on.They were obviously in too much of a hurry to swop the wheels about and put the spare on the rear. The ICE has been ripped out, anyone have a stereo surround for a MY00 !!, and the jack and wheel brace are missing. They had done 100 miles and used most of a tank of petrol, must have been fun. So I guess I can say I am lucky, well except for loosing my job a week ago, dont they say things happen in 3s !!
So I will be back on the Clang n Ball runs in the better weather.... Kris - hold onto the Bel 4 me mate !!
Now comes the fun of reclaiming the £390 recovery charge from the Police as I told them not to recover the car, a friend has a low loader so we would have collected it ourselves, the car was found last Thursday and I was called Tuesday afternoon, work that one out, they done even want to fingerprint the inside of the car which did surprise me.
Still I can now check Scoobynet legitimately !!!

Happy New Year to you all....
Jase

Fantastic news mate. I am chuffed for you. Made me grin like a kid reading that. As for the job, thats a bummer. Although good luck normally starts in a run....so I hope it may long continue.

This has to be the best scoobynet news so far this week

Good news, though it is annoying to think what they were up to during the 100 miles

You are a computer consultant though so should get another job soon? Do you not know Dales, he works at your place/ex-place?

Jase,
glad to hear you've got it back. Good to see the police helping the motorist.

Glad you said you had it back as you may have got a suprise if you'd driven it around and I'd seen it as I'd have hunted you down, thinking you were the scum that had nicked it!

If you've not done so, get it thoroughly checked over by a dealer, just to make 110 percent sure they've not rallied it.

good news, glad it is back... could I possibly ask what sort of level of security was on it? i.e. cat 1, tracker, steering lock etc? I am going through a paranoid phase and am thinking of spending yet more money on security but don't know where to go next.

Well done - good to hear someone actually getting their car recovered for a change in (relatively) good condition.

Email me if you need a couple of recommended IT recruitment consultants.

Cheers

Chris

Nice one!

I would definitely recommend a complete oil-filter & oil change as they may have cooked the turbo without realising it - it sounds like the car was stolen for its performance rather than to destroy it. Also look at the brakes (fluid & pads) in case they boiled them too.

A good start to 2001 methinks.

Nice one Jase,

Very lucky me thinks. The old bill would have had to recover it for several reasons including forensic examination and the fact that it is worth a great deal of money etc etc. You should be able to recover the cost from your insurers no probs. Your BEL is safe and let me know when you want it back.

cheers

KRIS

p.s. DEFINATELY put the thing on ramps and go all over it with a fine tooth comb before giving it some stick.
