Default Exhaust advice please :)

Hi peeps, i registered yesterday! cool forums! Anyway ive got a 02plate new age scooby, and im after a nice loud burbbly exhaust (Turbo back) On my old turbo 2000 classic i had a turbo back magnex fitted while back and it did sound nice cost me fitted £590 from readracing! however for the same exhaust for my car he wants £630 fitted , so i went to see charlie last week at pro speed exhausts in cardiff and must say he craftman ship looks amazing! he quoted me £530 for a turbo back system with a mid sport system! so i booked it in for the 29th of the this month!, 1 of the ladds from cwmbran has a silver turbo 2000 with the same exhaust done by pro speed and sounds mental , however i took a lil trip down hyeline today and they wanted to sell me a supplied and fitted turbo back system for £580 the system didnt have a make but apparently was similar to blitz nur spec, from japan according to kenzo! only good thing about this exhaust from hyeline is that the welds are machined and accurate, and hyeline were saying with custom made exhausts they weld from the inside and blobs of weld can decrease the flow etc, what do i do peeps??

Hyeline are not the most popular peeps on here! You have been warned!

have a look at Welcome to Scooby world this will give you a guide to some quality stuff.

I had a ProSpeed done for my wifes MX-5, top people and top service.

Buy 2nd hand, half the price and because they are SS they are never going to rust. Most of us have had a 2nd hand one in the past.

Again not an Impreza but my other half had an exhaust for her FTO made by ProSpeed and it is spot on, perfect fit been on the car about 2 years with no problems, still looks and sounds great.

In my opinion worth the extra over Hyeline who are unpopular for a reason.

But
I would buy a second hand SS sysem that is branded if it was my money.

SWsportpilot had a Prospeed system on his car and it sounded just as he asked.

As Danny said you could always buy second hand, Jap Performanace Parts are worth a look they normally have a range of used exhausts for sale:

Jap Performance Parts : Parts for Sale

Theres a HKS TI Carbon on there for £395 which is what i run on my car, needs a bit of clean.
There also a Blitz NUR spec R due in Feb for £375

The old bill have never mentioned my exhaust and it's mental loud, been pulled over for a tyre check when leaving castle combe after one show and they never mentioned the exhaust. Over taken plenty of cop cars on the motorway and they've never had me for it. Drive in a reasonable manor and treat other road user with respect and the old bill normally will leave you alone when it comes things like exhaust, tints etc.

Drive like a tit and expect to be pulled for a minor defect. You'll only ever be pulled for a loud exhaust if your being a dick, boy racing round town.

As said I'd buy 2nd hand and go for a Jap made exhaust (5Zigen, Blitz, HKS etc), miles better build quality than any hand made system. The welds are so much neater.

Unless you go to Scotland, of course. They're right *******s about exhausts up there. If you have an import you're ok though as they wont have any data for the official noise level of your car.

My car came with the Scoobysport full system fitted, and it is LOUD ( I have the original CAT centre section which gets swapped over for MOT time ) but like most exhausts it is only really loud at high revs and when accelerating hard - if you listen to your exhaust when motorway cruising it isnt really that loud, just nice and burbly.

The reason boy racers sound so loud is that they rev the nuts off their Corsas and 106's to try and make them sound like real cars.

Not strickly true, mine will shake the windows just on tick over and set car alarms off at around 10-15 whilst in 2nd, just ask Big Daz's neighbour!!!!!! On the motorway it scares th crap out of other road users when I tootle past at 70, They start looking in the sky for low flying aircraft!!! Some Exhaust are loud no matter how many beans it's being given.

Exhaust choice depends on what you want.... i went for the TSL full de-cat system and down pipe.
Cracking system and i'm loving the sound of it
