Absolute nuts but goes to show how things have progressed since evil knievel. I watched Richard Hammonds programme about him and some other biker had jumped over twice the distance that Evil achieved.

Always amazes me with these jumps how they manage to judge the distance where the landing ramp should be. Most of Eveil's off's where when he over-ran the ramp, and hit the deck flat, causing slight suspension issues

 

Yeah but did'nt Evil do it on some kind of Harley or other American dinosuar

 

Evel Knievel was an idiot though, he never bothered to work his jumps out properly, and he used POS Harleys instead of lighter bikes that were actually capable of the job, just because they paid him too

 

Outstanding jump, full respect for that.
