I decided to clean up the connectors on my ScoobySport Driving Lamps, as they were a bit intermitant. I put it down to corrosion on the connectors.

I take off one, clean the connectors and check the bulb is OK. Everything is fine.

I start to take off the otehr, and think these bolts are tigher than the others, but think nothing of it, again probably corrosion.

I clean the connectors and check the bulb. The clear protective cover is a bit wonky, but think nothing of it. Imagine the look on my face, when I find there isn't a bulb!!! I check the lamp to make sure it hasn't fallen off, but it's not there!!

Some thiefing git has taken off my driving lamp, the clear cover, opened it up, taken out the bulb, and put it all back together again!!!

To say I'm a bit pi$$ed off is understatement!!!

Just a warning, in case your lamps aren't working!

Andy, if it wasn't true - you would laugh!! It reminds me of the time, I had the windscreen wipers nicked off my first car (it was only a knackered old MK2 Escort). The little g*t had laid the nuts, bolts and washers in neat little rows down the bonnet. It's amazing the trouble people will go to ...

I've heard of people nicking the 'big' bumpers off late Mark II Golf GTIs, but that's ridiculous ....

There was a story in the press a year or so ago about a guy in Leeds who stole cars, took them home, washed, waxed and vacuumed them out then returned them to where he nicked them .... owners didn't know whether to tw*t him or pay him a fiver, apparently

the following is sworn truth..
a mate of mine had his radio stolen 3 times and decided not to replace it... with nothing but a screwdriver his car could be opened in 15 secs.. One morning he got in his car and... yep.. someone installed a radio! It was not wired and the cassette-part did not function at the correct speed but we had some really good laughs... maybe the 'thief' stood nearby watching him.. funny, not?

They steal a lot of radio's overhere, just about everything with buttons. Once i had a cheap radio that could not receive anything without a irritating noise and i decided to leave it on the roof of my car. (it was one of these radio's you had to pull out completely, not only the front) I came back to the car and there was a note under the wiper... someone took it home and wrote his adress on this piece of paper.. that's also Amsterdam..

Cool

LOL

Obviously someone that knows nothing about lamps - otherwise he would have realised that there was every chance that the H2 bulb had failed anyway!!!

A friend of mine broke down in Oxford. He couldn't get the car to start at all (it was a rust bucket). He came back the following day and found that someone had fixed and then nicked the car.

Andy - I'm still waiting for your reply on the airgun thread.

Had a customer ring up a while ago, with another unbelievable one. Whilst he was parked at Silverstone, for a meeting, he had the bonnet nicked

Last I heard, Silverstone were catching the bill.

Andy call me and I'll send one FOC.

Unbelievable! I'm amazed the bugger bothered to put it back together again.

A while ago I went to a local pub with my parents in their Mondeo.

We came out afterwards to find somebody had nicked both windscreen wipers (arms, blades, the lot) and both side indicator assemblies.

Chris.

I lost the plastic arch extensions off my Mini, my brother had the little bar stewards try and nick his front bumper off his Renault 5 turbo, rusty nut squeeking woke my mother, flat and we scored for the spanner.

My mum came back to her old Mini once to find that it wouldn't start. Completely dead. On inspection, she found that someone had nicked the battery out of the boot!!

Subsequent thefts included wing mirrors and the plastic covers from the tail lights - but they left the bulbs!!!

Had a few of these with the work vehicles a few years back.

1) Jumped into the transit one morning to find that the rear view mirror was gone, closer examination revealed that the seatbelts were gone too.

2) Driver jumped into the transit one morning, started her up, moved off, turned the steering wheel nothing happened, looked underneath, found that someone had nicked the steering rods.

3) Drove into the carpark on morning found that someone had nicked the drivers door and a headlight from the Sierra.

Needless to say that we now store the vehicles inside.

A friend had his Nova stolen. It was found 10 miles away. They replaced his alloy wheels with steelies and removed the bumper but put the number plate on the dashboard. They also locked the car afterwards, which was frightfull considerate

I know this is all very sad and a scary state of affairs, but reading this is one of the funniest things Ive read on Scoobynet of late.

My sister in law once went back to her car in a multi story car park( a mk 2 cavalier SRI), put the kids in their seats in the back, then got in the driving seat and noticed the steering wheel had gone!!!!!!!!

Hmmm,

Friend of mine had the rear window stolen out of his MK3 Escort, left all the stuff in the car, never took anything but the glass !

One of my bosses from a few years back, had both bumpers stolen off his Jag, right outside his front window, fog lights and fitments left in neat little piles by the front of the car.

Another friend, Sapphire Cossie, stripped completely in the back yars, only left with drivetrain (minus engine) and the shell !

All true, i kid you not !

I was at a rugby match in Dublin once & decided to park outside a local nick...
I figured the car would be safe there if nowhere else.....I was wrong!
I was driving an old nissan sunny at the time
When i got back from the match I discovered
some git had broke in and whipped me top of the range crown stereo
The funny thing was tho....he then taped up the live wire presumably so it wouldnt blow a fuse !
Nice of him eh?
