Thumbs up

Sign me up for that, thinking of having next years insurance limited to 1000 miles, no chance of me being able to afford to cover that distance anyway.
It is a tad upsetting to see the panel that was keyed over a year ago looking at me everytime I walk past the car
On a positive note tyres seem to be lasting me considerably longer when I don't drive the car

No idea about this month - ask me when I've shelled out for some more new tyres.

However, I can say in November 2001 I spent £842.35 on the car, of which £451.23 was petrol. Ouch!

I'm in Phil I'll qualify for low mileage, but Ted Ed probably wins hands down ....8 mile round trip to work

Just spent 450 notes on new tyres ....but they were worth it Shame it costs so much to run but then, I would just spend my money on something else instead....like the missus

Well I doubt you have paid out more than me Phil LOL

Including buying the car, running and repairing it - the costs matched one years wages

Well, let's see Phil:
This month: Front spoiler + grille + painting = *cough* enough!
Last month: 4 new Toyo's + prodrive geometry settings = £450 approx!
But last October was the nicest (not!) Head gaskets + clutch + flywheel + LARGE amount of labour = *sniff, cough, splutter* over £2.5k.

Confusious (sp?) say, "Man with Impreza have f*** all money left!"

Me too. I do 30k a year in the Scoob, and whilst it 'costs less per mile' that way, what people fail to realize is that you get paid per month. I often wonder how the people on hear afford expensive mods (complete catless exhaust, Rim2000 wheels, eh salsa?) when I can only just keep the thing running (700 quid service coming next month), but then I realize that if I did 15k per annum I'd save 200 quid a month in fuel and only have to pay out half as much in servicing/wear items.

Ah well, it's worth it.

I bought my scoob in June 2001. So far, the car, mods, insurance have taken around 16.5k from my bank...I used to be a "good" Nationwide customer! Christ knows what it would be if I included fuel!!! I wonder how much an M3 would have cost after all, or a new WRX?

Phil,

shame on you for stealing my idea and claiming it as your own

and it's actually SODS - Scooby Owners in Dire STRAITS

I qualify cos my Scoob has cost me £1300 and that doesn't even include petrol

and I can't wait ... insurance is due at the end of next month

suggestion for Rum: you wouldn't like to run a competition where the prize is a year's free insurance would you????? (but only so long as I can win it )

about to put a £500 exhaust on it tough hmmm now I think about it.....

Still not much else puts a smile on my face when driving to work, makes it almost worth going to work for the 20miles of backroads everyday

Hehe hehe! (No offence intended)

Thats why I cancelled the 01 that I had on order. I do between 30-50k miles per year and worked out the running costs as between £14-16k per year, not including depreciation. For that I can buy a new Skoda every year! (yeah, I know its not a scooby)

After new disc, pads, tyres, clutch, engine rebuild, and being able to burn £25 petrol per hour on enthusiastic driving I bought a turbo diesel Passat! It does 48 MPG don't you know!!
