BuRR 10 January 2002 10:37 PM

I'm in !!!

I'll let you know my full details as soon as I'm back from town after selling my eldest kid to a peruvian slave-trader.

....10 mins I reckon :)

Big Bear 10 January 2002 10:37 PM

Me I'm fed up with spending money I haven't got , on a car that that sometimes makes me want to take it to a field and burn the bloody thing out

Robertio 10 January 2002 10:40 PM

Sign me up for that, thinking of having next years insurance limited to 1000 miles, no chance of me being able to afford to cover that distance anyway.
It is a tad upsetting to see the panel that was keyed over a year ago looking at me everytime I walk past the car :(
On a positive note tyres seem to be lasting me considerably longer when I don't drive the car :)

cpofwales 10 January 2002 10:42 PM

Im in, thats a good idea, ithink ill sell my offspring aswell, might pay for the next tank of jiuce if I m lucky, This car is a disease, I cant help spending money I cant afford :(

stephen emery 10 January 2002 10:48 PM

me 2!
how about getting band from TSL that might help!
how about a scooby anon!
can't stop!

roadtrip 10 January 2002 11:07 PM

Or even getting BANNED from TSL !

That is wot U intended was it not Stephen? :D

Or perhaps you wanted to start a BAND so you could listen to some tunes OTHER than the excuisite(sp?) sound of a Scooby SS back box

No Offence m8 ;)

RoadyT :D

ChrisB 10 January 2002 11:11 PM

No idea about this month - ask me when I've shelled out for some more new tyres.

However, I can say in November 2001 I spent £842.35 on the car, of which £451.23 was petrol. Ouch!

Hanslow 10 January 2002 11:13 PM

I'm in Phil ;) I'll qualify for low mileage, but Ted Ed probably wins hands down :D:p:D....8 mile round trip to work ;)

Just spent 450 notes on new tyres :(....but they were worth it ;) Shame it costs so much to run :( but then, I would just spend my money on something else instead....like the missus ;)

Little Miss WRX 10 January 2002 11:14 PM

Well I doubt you have paid out more than me Phil ;) LOL :D

Including buying the car, running and repairing it - the costs matched one years wages

salsa-king 10 January 2002 11:17 PM

steve
simon's (TedEd) 8 mile is all week not per day!

Phil

Leigh 10 January 2002 11:39 PM

Well, let's see Phil:
This month: Front spoiler + grille + painting = *cough* enough! :D
Last month: 4 new Toyo's + prodrive geometry settings = £450 approx!
But last October was the nicest (not!) Head gaskets + clutch + flywheel + LARGE amount of labour = *sniff, cough, splutter* over £2.5k.

Confusious (sp?) say, "Man with Impreza have f*** all money left!" :D :D

CHRIS_D 10 January 2002 11:49 PM

yep count me in!!;)

expendeture for 1x Scooby this month to date:(

£300.00 just for the insurance excess to get a nasty bump fixed

£100.00 for a set of Sti 4 calipers

So far well over £100 on petrol...and i havnt been further than a 15 mile radius of where i live!!

£101.04 insurance instalment

£348.00 to bloody international motors

Total so far for the month of january = £948.04 plus
and its only the 10th of the month
chris

carl 10 January 2002 11:53 PM

Me too. I do 30k a year in the Scoob, and whilst it 'costs less per mile' that way, what people fail to realize is that you get paid per month. I often wonder how the people on hear afford expensive mods (complete catless exhaust, Rim2000 wheels, eh salsa?) when I can only just keep the thing running (700 quid service coming next month), but then I realize that if I did 15k per annum I'd save 200 quid a month in fuel and only have to pay out half as much in servicing/wear items.

Ah well, it's worth it. :D

Steve Terzo 11 January 2002 12:49 AM

I bought my scoob in June 2001. So far, the car, mods, insurance have taken around 16.5k from my bank...I used to be a "good" Nationwide customer! Christ knows what it would be if I included fuel!!! I wonder how much an M3 would have cost after all, or a new WRX?

stuart12 11 January 2002 12:59 AM

Count me in!

I wont bore you with the details after reading some of the above.

Have to sell the Miss's for petrol next year I think.(Her not her car)

Stuart

Rebecca 11 January 2002 08:11 AM

Phil,

shame on you for stealing my idea and claiming it as your own :p

and it's actually SODS - Scooby Owners in Dire STRAITS :D

I qualify cos my Scoob has cost me £1300 and that doesn't even include petrol :(

and I can't wait ... insurance is due at the end of next month :(

suggestion for Rum: you wouldn't like to run a competition where the prize is a year's free insurance would you????? :D :D :D (but only so long as I can win it :) )

Dizzy 11 January 2002 08:20 AM

er... £30 on fuel.. and thats it :D
about to put a £500 exhaust on it tough :D hmmm now I think about it.....

Still not much else puts a smile on my face when driving to work, makes it almost worth going to work for the 20miles of backroads everyday :)

ChristianR 11 January 2002 08:30 AM

TaviaRS 11 January 2002 09:04 AM

Hehe hehe! (No offence intended)

Thats why I cancelled the 01 that I had on order. I do between 30-50k miles per year and worked out the running costs as between £14-16k per year, not including depreciation. For that I can buy a new Skoda every year! (yeah, I know its not a scooby)

rsquire 11 January 2002 09:31 AM

Now this is a club that I feel I can join :D :D

Not one but TWO dead imprezas in the one year!!!!

Ahh well If I wasn't paying for the Scoobs.. I may have had to feed the kids :D :D

Richard

rsquire 11 January 2002 09:32 AM

But they do corner nicely ;)

Alas 11 January 2002 09:37 AM

I'm in. Wife had a good car as well but now I've got the green guzzler I'm going to have to sell hers & buy her a small, cheap runabout. And no, she does'nt know yet!!
Alasdair

Sieze 11 January 2002 10:07 AM

After new disc, pads, tyres, clutch, engine rebuild, and being able to burn £25 petrol per hour on enthusiastic driving I bought a turbo diesel Passat! It does 48 MPG don't you know!!

CharlieWhiskey 11 January 2002 11:07 AM

Yes it may do 48mpg but it's a filthy diesel Tractor!

Salsa, get rid of it and buy a Nova ;)

Richard Askew 11 January 2002 11:07 AM

January costs thus far:

Service - £454
Finance - £310
Insurance - £110
