Engine oil I would recommend Millers CFS 10W60, gearbox oil a good fully synthetic like Millers 75w90.

Go with Castrol Syntrax, it works loads better with the synchros and stops notchy changes...I've had Motul 300 and Silkolene in, both now dumped for Castrol

About to do a gearbox oil change, taking out the Millers CFS and putting something else in. Will Castrol cure a crunching synchro from 4th to 5th (once the gearbox is warmed up)?

Maybe, or maybe not.

Short of a 'box rebuild, the case of sorting dodgy syncros is a bit of expermentation.

Syntrax does appear to work well with Impreza 'boxs though. (although I personally must note that with my old car, at first it seems to get get more notchy shortly after an oil change, then it settles after 2-300mile of varied driving )

Also worth making sure the floormatt isn't under your clutch pedal (silly as it seems, it does make a difference ), and also if its not been done for a while: give the clutch fluid a change.

Soz chap, cant say for sure yet as oil not going in mine till next March (car off the road)....alot of people I know including my mapper say it works a treat as the fully synth stuff is great quality but toooo slippy for 6 speeds...hence the crunch. Hope it works on mine and yours
