Oil/Gearbox Oil/Rear Diff Oil
Am going to be changing My Oil the start of next month, do i need to change all the Oil/Gearbox etc etc
I know where the sump blug is, but wheres the geatbox drain plug and the rear diff, And whats the best oil out there for these cars. Mines a 97 classic 2000 turbo. Thank You |
Engine oil I would recommend Millers CFS 10W60, gearbox oil a good fully synthetic like Millers 75w90.
|
That the same for the rear diff
|
Last one, how much oil will a 97 classic hold. in engine and gearbox

Go with Castrol Syntrax, it works loads better with the synchros and stops notchy changes...I've had Motul 300 and Silkolene in, both now dumped for Castrol

Maybe, or maybe not.
Short of a 'box rebuild, the case of sorting dodgy syncros is a bit of expermentation. Syntrax does appear to work well with Impreza 'boxs though. :thumb: (although I personally must note that with my old car, at first it seems to get get more notchy shortly after an oil change, then it settles after 2-300mile of varied driving :wonder: ) Also worth making sure the floormatt isn't under your clutch pedal (silly as it seems, it does make a difference ;) ), and also if its not been done for a while: give the clutch fluid a change. |
What about Redline shockproof?

About to do a gearbox oil change, taking out the Millers CFS and putting something else in. Will Castrol cure a crunching synchro from 4th to 5th (once the gearbox is warmed up)?
