Default Why the sloppy gearchange.

I recently had a new clutch fitted in my sti version 6, since this was fitted the gear change has felt very un smooth and there seems a lot of play in the gearstick. I've been told it's the gear linkage bush. Now do you guys agree with this? If so what exactly do I need to buy? and where from? I'vetried searching on the net but can't find anything. Could they be main dealer only?

Do some basic checking first:

To remove the box you have to disconnect the lever underneath the car. There is a roll pin and some M6/M8 fastenings there, check are are present and tight.
Also there is a large spring (about 50mm long, 12mm dia) and this places a 'bias' on the lever towards 3rd/4th plane.

If that is missing /popped off then the lever really feels loose.

It is a bugga to fit on as it is so strong and awkward. You cannot miss this spring!

Good luck, Graham.

Your spring has gone!

It should be linked to the small hole on the large disc and the small hole on the UJ in pic # 1.

Spring can be had from dealer or better still David at Welcome to the API website

Very cheap too. Tell David '911' sent you (private joke)
