Default Brand new luke warm / hot motor for £13-14k

My girlfriend is looking for a new car (this is important im told, has to be brand new) preferably with a bit of poke. Current considerations have been:

* Peugeot 206 GTI180 - Shot down by me because we currently have a 206cc and its built like a sloppy chocolate pudding from the sloppy bakery in sloppy town, its a bit over budget and I just cant convince myself that it doesnt have that dragged through halfords backwards look.

* Mini Cooper S - My personal favourite but once the air con etc has been added its looking more like £16-17k.

* Honda Civic Type R - Also high on my list of suggestions but again with air con (im told this is also extremely important) its over £16k OTR.

Can anybody offer up any suggestions of a warm/hot car within budget... ive tried and failed!

Cheers

David

Fabia VRS, Dont Critisise until youve tried one, 130 bhp as std & a £450 remap at Jabba will give over 180 with loads of torque & yet it can still easily achieve 50+ mpg when driven sensibly. The hardest thing will be finding one as the dealers can shift everyone they get. Also you get a big grin everytime you pass someone in a Skoda.
The new generation Skodas are all based on Volkswagen Audi technology & use many af their parts. The Fabia is based on the Polo, it just comes with more toys, is better screwed together & costs less althogh the Fabia is much more than a Polo. Just go & try one
