Default Money is a bit tight, whhat is the best way ?

I want to try and get about another 100 bhp from my scooby but money is a bit tight at the min, is their any short cuts i can take to do this on a budget ?

What i mean is can i do things like knock the cat out with a hammer to create a free flowing exhaust to get some more bhp, are their anymore tweeks i can do like maybe advancing the timing or having a fiddle about with the ECU to get some more wooomph.

Ive probably got about £100 spare at the min but maybe able to push this to about £130 if i cash in my copper jar, any help is appreaciated. Ta

100bhp for £100 ......... search the auctions and buy yourself an old 100bhp car, thats probably the safest bet

I wouldnt buy a car from you by the way

I think Borat should stick to a horse and cart !

I'd save the 100 for when something needs replacing such as brake pads, MAF etc.

Don't knock the brick out unless you replace with a perf or solid tube, the exansion and contraction effect will cost almost as much flow as the cat!

You won't get +100bhp for £100, especially as no-one has a clue were your starting from (model/year etc) but the best budget improves are a dawes valve for boost (or a drilled bleed if you know what your doing, pm me for details!) and getting second hand parts (well known auction site!) such as a decat stock STi exhaust.

I have just seen a dump valve for sale on ebay for about £40, how much faster will that make my car and what sort of increased bhp figures can i expect to get. How do you fit one, is it easy? Ta

You'll need the extra £60 saved to get the car sorted when it starts miss-firing etc

Hey that sounds cool, my car will sound like a rally car with all that popping and banging. Thats a bonus if it will as popping and banging is what i have been after for ages but couldn`t afford it, so is that how the rally cars do their popping and banging with a miss firing dump valve ?

Urine extract for sure - trouble is with so many baseball cap craniums owning older Impreza's these days you neve know, and with the tech knowledge Borat has, he could be PSL himself in disguise!

I would invest in some real low springs this would be within your limited funds and as you drive down the road it will feel like a rally car as you head hits the roof, and the missus will keep telling you to slow down due to the ride improvement!

Personally i'd stay orf the sauce so early in the day and put the money you save with your savings. Then go on a bender for the weekend instead.

Thanks for all the advice lads, my heads still in a pickle though and i`m not sure who is being serious on here and whose not. I think i`ll get my mate Baz to whack out that CAT thing and see what that does and if it goes any faster.

If anyone else needs a good mechanic my mate Baz is good and i highly recommend him, he only charges a few pints for most things.

Just to let you know, my mate Baz who is good at mechanics said its easily possible to get another 100 bhp out of your engine for £100. You just need to know what your doing he said, i`ll keep you updated.

He is fitting my new dump valve for me and he said that will add about another 20 bhp when he has finished with it, just 80 bhp left to go.

you can supercharge your car, whas told about them by this bloke down the pub, they are ment to go after the air filter, and that will easy give you 50bhp i was told.

and to save money, you could use a fan out of your pc! so that will be 50bhp for free

job well done i think.

so that will be 70 bhp you have extra now when used with the dump valve.

will ask the bloke down the pub again and see what he thinks, but not prommising anything, as you know info like this doesnt come cheap, as all the top drag cars use it, but dont say anything as every one will do the same, and not buying there expesive stuff from there shops!
