Default defi gauge brightness

Hi,

I fitted some Autogage Stealth 2 gauges around 6 months ago. They are great and about a third the price of defi BF's but there is one problem. They are nearly impossible to read in bright daylight as the backlighting is not powerful enough.

My question is.... Are defi BF's any brighter? Or would I be wasting my money upgrading?

Any advice gratefully received!

Got Defi's fitted in my classic, where the centre vent used to be. Have absloutely no problem reading them even on the sunniest of days. They are not illuminated unless the lights are on. Were so bright at night that i fitted a resistor to dull the lighting down.It may depend on their location, where have you got them?what car is it?

The car is an MY04 and they are mounted in a pod in the dsh top where the clock usually sits.

The Stealth 2's are almost black when the ignition is off and the face is a dark grey perspex.

The BF's are a similar design but I suspect they will be brighter, possibly due to having a clear face and a "blacker" dial.

Perhaps I'll need to take a run dwon to the 'clinic 2moro afternoon and take a look see

BF's have 4 levels of brightness with "lights off" and 4 levels of brightness with lights on" so you can tailor it to suit your needs.

Russell,

Thanks for the info! Looks like I shouldn't have been a penny pincher in the first place and bought the proper kit first time out.

Trip to Scoobyclinic it is then!

For the record i find my genuine Defi BF's can sometimes be a pest to read in bright daylight. I'll be switching to white-faced Defis in the very near future.

Can you do us a price for 52mm white-faced boost/fuel/oil pressure Russ?

Ive got white faced defi's in My evo, they are pure class, easy to read at all times, and awesome at night, just the start up sequence is immense

Ive got Oil temp, Oil Press, and Water temp.

A lot of wiring floating about but highly recommend, they make my ralliart boost gauge look cheap.

Look nice but after fitting a set to a M8's 380bhp Evo5 last week, what a nightmare!
