I don't think there is but not 100% certain

IIRC EcuTek can only program from MY99 Version 5 onwards.

There isn't any direct plug in software available for mapping 98 UK cars...
There are many aftermarket options though , Simtek (My personal favourite) , Apexi Power FC , ESL , Hydra , Motec , Gems etc etc...

Default Uk 98 ecu reading.

Hi Guys

Sorry to poach an old thread but I have a similar request/problem.

I have a elm cable and gadget box thing for connecting to the car (uk 98) but I have been having problems connecting the laptop to the car....The software recognises the ecu...the cable box flashes both ways and can tell me its connected.... but it will not 'go online' with the car and pick up all the diagnosis tests etc etc... the software tells me the ecu has a bus init error?

Am I doing anything wrong.... do I have the wrong software?....(Scantool)....or do I need to do something that I dont know about?

Any advice would be great

Are you trying to retrieve error codes? if so look here

if not then are you using an OBD2 device? as I don't believe the 98 is..

Yes using an OBD2 device... the car has the plug under the steering wheel......Its not so much for error codes but more for logging data if its possible....
