Default My First Subaru..... Hi all!!!

Hi,

Ive just signed up, ive just purchased my first subaru, its a 1994 L Reg Subaru Impreza Wagon 1.8 GL with a full WRX (Facelift) Bodykit. it looks pretty smart, and i paid £1150 for it. Being only 19. im far from owning a REAL wrx but its a start! and at least i can afford the insurance for this one! ive attacted a picture for you all to see. it also had wrx seats. so it is a pretty cool replica.

I have a few questions being new to it all.

1. This is probably the question most asked.... How do i get the same bom,bom bom bom bom drone, like a real wrx! im not botherd about speed! all i want is that noise from the exhaust. is it just an exhaust? or will i have to fit wrx running gear inside?. all i want is the noise. no preformance increase. so what would be the best way... if posible?

2. Alloys.. i done a quick check on the net to see if my 5 stud vw alloys would fit it... but im not sure on the stats...

PCD Offset Bore

VW: 5x100 35 to 38 57.1

Subaru 5x100 35 to 52 56.1

whats the bore...? and is the 1.0? gunna make a differance...?

thats all at the moment... hope you like my car! thanks for reading

To get the Burble noise you are after, you will need to change the headers to un-equal length jobbies to off set the exhaust note and acheive the noise you want.

Pop across to Imprezasport.net to check out the modification section on there. Most of us Sport owners have done this and acheived a nice burble, as nice as a lot of turbos.

Decat it, biggish aftermarket backbox and you will have loads of burble.

.:ImprezaSport.net:. may be worth looking at.
I think Borla headers are very popular with the sport fraternity.

Wouldn't think a set of turbo headers would fit a non-turbo car but best to ask the people with sports to see what they've done.

hi fella. welcome to the site.

i assume the headers for a 1.8gl may be the same as a sport, scooby_mad off here could help you with them. exhausts wise, most subaru places do exhausts for turbos and sports, as i believe there to be some sort of difference in the pipework.

I think unequal means a down pipe runs from each cylinder head and the two join together to head off to the exhaust. If they are unequal then one is longer than the other and they don't meet exactly in the middle.

I think the burble is caused by the gasses coming out of these pipes at different pressures or whatever, but sure someone will no better than me.

Headers are the pipes which take the exhaust gases out from the bottom of the engine and bring it all together to meet your centre section/Cat section.

There is no down pipe on non turbo cars cos of the position of the engine etc.

There are a couple of options for the headers, one is to contact USAutomotive and they import the Borla ones, or look on ebay as there are some cheap replicas flying about.

I have Borla headers on mine, sounds really good. I am having it decatted to release a touch more volume.

Turbo headers wont fit as the pipe work is different diameter and totally different shape.

Come across to Imprezasport.Net there is loads of info on there to search about at.
