Schoolboy error Admin Password
So a customer blew away their whole system inc DC's except 1 box they now need some info off. The software needs to be reinstalled to allow this plus the Domain reinstated so it can be authenticated.
So I turned the box into a 2k DC and rebooted. I was tired and totally forgot about the password side of things. Of course no one knows what the local admin password was which has now obviously become the DC Admin password.
I've tried this to reset it:
Offline NT pw & reg-editor, bootdisk
which worked but has obviously only changed the local admin password and for some reason I'm not given a drop down to allow me to log on to the local machine, only the domain so it still fails.
Is there anyway to reset a domain admin password? Can't blow away the box as there are DB's on it which now aren't backed up as it was due to be blown away.....
