Default Painting Engine and/or gearbox

Have just picked up an engine and box for my 205 GTI, and before installing I am going to clean it up and hopefully paint it.

I was thinking of jetwashing it, to get the crap off but not sure what paint to use on either.

Any sudgestions.

I prepped mine (EJ20) before it went into my '78 VW camper (heretic!) using a Dremmel, Scotch Brite and Coma Wheel Clean. Good old rinse off and dry.
The motor was painted with Plasticote Hot paint, this stuff needs heat to cure and you will get painted hands handling it after.

PJ1 do a very good Case Paint and also VHT paints (try a decent m/bike shop). I've found out that PJ1 is more resistant to petrol than Sperex, although I haven't used Sperex for years.

If the metal has become porous to oil ie sump etc not a lot's gonna stick.
