Fuse No 2 (Top row, left hand side) as mentioned on the other thread, the fuse is also for wipers and windscreen wash, so if it's not working, check the connections to the pump on the water bottle, and check if there's a voltage, or it could be the pump

ta muchly. hadn;t got round to pm'ing you either 
i'll let sally know (my mate who bought my car). the wipers are working so i'll head over there at some point with my multi meter and some contact cleaner.
good excuse to have a drive of the old motor as well. espcially if i have to take it somewhere to get it checked out
